Advanced scan · add-on
The vitamin the UK quietly runs out of.
Public Health England estimates around 1 in 5 UK adults has low Vitamin D, and the number climbs sharply between October and March. It's called the sunshine vitamin for a reason — and North London winters don't hand it out. The good news: it's one of the simplest deficiencies to detect early and correct. Balance Body Hub's hormone & micronutrient lab panel gives you a clinician-reviewed answer, not a guess.
Symptoms of low Vitamin D
Easy to miss. Easy to correct.
Vitamin D deficiency rarely shouts. It whispers — through symptoms so common they get chalked up to modern life. Any three of these persistently is worth testing for.
Persistent fatigue
Not sleepy — flat. A tiredness that a good night's rest doesn't fully lift.
Aching muscles & bones
Especially in the lower back, hips and legs. Often mistaken for age or exercise.
Low mood & seasonal dips
Vitamin D receptors sit throughout the brain — deficiency correlates with low mood, particularly through UK winters.
Frequent colds & infections
Vitamin D is a key modulator of the immune response. Low levels, more sick days.
Hair thinning
One of the earlier, quieter signals — worth catching before it becomes visible.
Slow-healing wounds
Cuts, bruises and gym niggles that take longer than they used to.
The advanced scan add-on
Clinician-reviewed results.
Our hormone & micronutrient panel is an advanced add-on to the B&B Scan pathway. One blood draw covers Vitamin D (25-OH), B12, ferritin, key hormones and inflammatory markers. Every result is reviewed by a qualified clinician and explained back to you in plain language — with a protocol, not a PDF.
One draw, full picture
Vitamin D, B12, ferritin, thyroid, testosterone/oestrogen, cortisol and more — from a single sample.
Reference ranges that fit you
Age, sex and lifestyle contextualised — not just green/red against a lab default.
Clinician debrief
A one-to-one session to explain what the numbers mean and what to do next.
Retest cadence
A clear window (typically 8–12 weeks) to correct and confirm improvement.
Feeds your reset plan
Results plug straight into your Recover, Rejuvenate or Realign membership protocols.
Vitamin D · FAQ
Myth-busting FAQ.
Doesn't a bit of sun sort out my Vitamin D?
+
In the UK, October to March, the sun sits too low to trigger meaningful Vitamin D synthesis in your skin — even on a bright day. Public Health England recommends everyone in the UK considers a supplement over winter. Testing tells you if 'a bit of sun' is actually enough for you.
Isn't Vitamin D just for bones?
+
No — that's the old story. Vitamin D receptors are found on immune cells, in the brain, muscle and gut. Low levels are linked to low mood, poor immunity, muscle aches and slower recovery, not just bone health.
I take a multivitamin — do I still need to test?
+
Yes. Most multivitamins contain 400–1,000 IU of Vitamin D, which is often not enough to lift a genuine deficiency. Without testing, you don't know if you're topping up or under-dosing.
How is your scan different from a GP finger-prick kit?
+
You get a full micronutrient and hormone context — not just one number — plus a clinician review that turns the results into a plan. A lonely lab value on a website isn't care.
How much Vitamin D is 'enough'?
+
The UK NHS defines deficiency below 25 nmol/L and insufficiency below 50 nmol/L. Optimal, for most active adults, sits closer to 75–125 nmol/L — which is where we help you land.
Can you have too much Vitamin D?
+
Yes, from over-supplementation. That's the other reason we test: to titrate a dose that lifts you into range without overshooting.
